Pregnancy Massage in Hervey Bay

Pregnancy Massage
Many people ask; “Is massage safe whilst I am Pregnant?”

The answer is “Yes”.

Massage is safe whilst you’re pregnant as long as you’re with a qualified massage therapist and generally not in your first Trimester.

Hervey Bay Pregnancy MassageWhile you are pregnant your body goes through many changes physically and physiologically and can sometimes leave you feeling sore, achy or generally under the weather.

Massage is a great way to help your body go through these changes in a gentle and effective way. We massage many women from their second Trimester right through to Labour and then in to post-pregnancy massage.

Pregnancy massage can help relax your mind, body and spirit; it also can relieve sore achy backs, legs and feet.

Pregnancy massage is a gentle but very effective massage and can also help with your general mood swings.

We usually include a full body massage which might include the head and feet, however we can tailor your Pregnancy massage to suit your own needs.

With Pregnancy massage depending at what stage of your pregnancy you are will depend on how we perform your massage. For example when you are 22 weeks or more we will only lay you on your side because by this stage it’s no longer safe for you to lay flat in your back.

Generally we lay you on each side, and seated can work best for your feet, head and shoulders.

Pregnancy Massage Hervey BayWe provide you with lots of pillows to ensure your comfort and we only use Organic Coconut oil which can be helpful for keeping your skin tight and reducing scaring.

Generally we recommend 60 minutes or 90 minutes maximum whilst you are pregnant.

Your body will be draped with soft towels or a sheet and only the part of the body that is been massaged is exposed.

Some benefits of having pregnancy massage are as follows:

  • Reduces stress and tension
  • Reduces anxiety Reduces swelling in hands, feet and ankles
  • Can reduce Sciatic pain
  • Reduces muscle pain in the back, legs and neck
  • Eases cramps and tension within the body
  • Can help with keeping your muscles toned throughout your pregnancy
  • Can help induce sleep which will help with fatigue
  • Increases blood and lymph flow which can help increase the elimination of toxins through the circulatory and lymphatic systems
  • Increases oxygen in the blood which can help with fatigue
  • Helps Strengthen your immune system
  • Stimulates the release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers, into the brain and nervous system
  • Helps increase blood circulation, which in turn delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the mother and baby
  • Can be used during the birth as well as after making both experiences easier and more comfortable
  • Can help with your feelings of over whelmed after the birth of your baby

So, in a nut shell, massage can be helpful not just to you but also to your baby. If you are relaxed your baby is relaxed, if you are happy your baby is happy.
